What is a Youth Work Intensive? A Youth Work Intensive is a series of skill building workshops focused on the knowledge and practice of youth work. It brings together trainers and leading practitioners to provide sessions focused on skill development, promising practices, and tools for everyday use. Accordingly, each workshop will address a broad topic while giving particular attention to tools, methods and strategies.
Why a Youth Work Intensive? The Youth Work Intensive seeks to further provide professional development opportunities for youth work professionals from various sectors of the field and areas of the city. The Youth Work Intensive seeks to build the core competencies of youth work professionals. The focus on skill building answers the call in the field for quality training that is applicable to program practices. It also addresses the need for accessible, affordable training.
Who’s it For? The Youth Work Intensive is for all youth work professionals. These professionals work with youth to promote developmental outcomes. They range from entry level direct service staff to supervisors and program managers, and can have a focus or specialty in areas such as sports, recreation, youth development, school setting, informal education, child/after school care, environmental education, vocational training skills, group work, social work, probation, police and casework/assessment, etc. They can work with youth in structured, semi- structured or unstructured (outreach/street worker) settings.
